IN SUPPORTING the initiatives taken by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports in raising funds to assist the flood victims in Malaysia, the Wives of the Cabinet Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Permanent and Deputy Permanent Secretaries and other associated members yesterday handed over a donation amounting to $2,000 for the Humanitarian Fund to flood victims in Malaysia.
Datin Hajah Rosnah binti Pehin Datu Indra Sugara Dato Seri Laila Jasa Haji Johari, the spouse of the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, presented the donation.
Another donation amounting $500 was personally made by Datin Hajah Jauyah binti Mohd Daud, the spouse of Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
Datin Paduka Hajah Adina binti Othman, Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, received both the donations.
The donation ceremony took place at the ministry’s building in Jalan Kebangsaan.
With yesterday’s donation, the Humanitarian Fund for Flood Victims in Malaysia has collected a total of $15, 200.
The humanitarian fund that was set up by the ministry in last January aims to serve as a medium for members of the public to hand over donations for the flood victims in Malaysia.
The public can contribute their donations until April 9.
Donation can be handed to the secretariat of the humanitarian fund at the Finance and Administration division of the Department of Community Development. Contributions can also be made via donation boxes that are placed at banking institutions as well as commercial and government buildings nationwide.
