FUN Bee Park, with the cooperation of IA Salon and Sorriso Restaurant, held a special “Dining in the Dark for a Good Cause” charity event last night to help raise awareness and funds for the Brunei Darussalam National Association of the Blind (BDNAB).
The BDNAB, founded in January 2001, is an association that works for equality and full participation in society by the blind and partially sighted of Brunei.
The event gave people an insight into what it is like to be blind.
Participants of the event, held at Fun Bee Park, got to enjoy a meal served by Sorriso, with the added twist of having to be blind-folded the whole time, so as to put them in a position where they have to utilise senses aside from that of sight.
Fun Bee Park’s Cecilia Lee briefed the participants on what was to take place over the course of the evening. She then made a donation of $5,000 to the BDNAB.
As for the meal itself, starters came in the form of a smoked salmon wrap and king scallop Florentine. The main courses on offer were duck confit orange zest with mash potato, a mini chicken roll as well as king prawn in saffron mash pot followed by hazelnut fianduia wrap and rosemary panna cotta for dessert.
According to a statement from the organisers, due to a “very warm response”, Fun Bee Park, IA Salon and Sorriso Restaurant have decided to repeat the event next month with tickets available at their respective establishments.
