DIM Sum A La Carte Festival 2014 at Royal Brunei Catering’s (RBC) Emperor’s Court and Dynasty Restaurant was launched yesterday by Dato Paduka Awg Haji Bahrin bin Abdullah, Deputy Minister of Finance in his capacity as the Chairman of Royal Brunei Airlines (RB). The launching ceremony was held at the Emperor’s Court, Hua Ho Manggis Mall.
Dim sum cuisines, which are prepared in small, individual portions served in a small steamer baskets or small plates, will be served daily during the promotional period from 9am to 2.30pm, except on Fridays, when it will be served until 12pm. The festival remains open till October 6.
Specially invited for the festival, master chef Liao Jing Chun, a dim sum Master Chef from Singapore will present his special dim sum dishes to the public and will exchange knowledge with the Emperor’s Court and Dynasty Restaurant chefs. Master Chef Liao, who has over 20 years of experience in dim sum making, will be in Brunei for more than a week.
Prior to the launching, General Manager of RBC, Haji Omar Ali Hj Mohd Daud, gave his welcoming remarks. After the launch, a short cooking demonstration was held by Master Chef Liao on the making of ‘Pan Fried Chives Dumpling’. Also present during the launching ceremony were Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hisham bin Haji Mohd Hanifah, Permanent Secretary (Policy & Investment) at the Ministry of Finance; and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Baiduri Bank, Pierre Imhof.
Throughout the festival, Emperor’s Court will serve 20 scrumptious dim sum cuisines while the Dynasty Restaurant will serve eight special dim sum dishes.
Some of the exclusive dishes available in RBC’s both outlets are Baked Crispy BBQ Chicken Bun, Deep Fried Century Egg Roll, Steamed Squid with Minced Chilli, and Crystal Prawn and Chives Dumpling. Sweet dishes include Deep Fried Crispy Chestnut and Deep Fried Thousands of Wire Durian Roll, among others.
Throughout the promotion, dine-in patrons will automatically be entitled to a lucky draw if they leave their name and contact number on the dining receipt at the restaurant. The grand prize will be one return air ticket to Singapore sponsored by Singapore Airlines, one RBC voucher worth BND200 for second prize, and one RBC voucher worth BND100 for the third prize. In addition, a surprise winner will also be drawn, who will receive one air ticket to Singapore, sponsored by RB.
To make the festival more interesting and more customer-centred, RBC has organised an ‘Instagram Lucky Draw Contest’ which commenced yesterday and runs until Wednesday, where 20 lucky winners will each win one RBC voucher that can be used at any RBC restaurants.
To enter, customers can follow @royalbruneicatering on Instagram, repost the photo shown at RBC’s official Instagram account and hash-tag #rbcdimsumfoodfestival2014 as well as tag three other friends. Participants are strictly advised to tag only three friends, not less or more.
During the promotional period, Baiduri Bank Infinite and Platinum cardholders are entitled to a 20 per cent discount while for Gold, Classic and Debit card holders, 15 per cent discount is applicable. RBC Dining Privilege cardholders will be entitled to a 10 per cent discount.
