Deputy Minister of Defence receives courtesy call

FIRST Admiral (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit, the Deputy Minister of Defence yesterday received Imam Asim Hafiz, the Islamic Religious Advisor to Chief of the Defence Staff and Service Chiefs of the United Kingdom, who is in Brunei Darussalam on a four-day working visit.

The deputy minister expressed his appreciation on the efforts made by Imam Asim Hafiz especially in promoting a better understanding of Islam and enhancing the British Armed Forces engagement with Muslim communities in the United Kingdom as well as overseas.

Both sides also reaffirmed the long-standing and close defence relations between Brunei Darussalam and the United Kingdom and exchanged views on security issues of mutual concern.

Imam Asim Hafiz also made courtesy calls on Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Japar bin Haji Mat Dain @ Maidin, the Deputy State Mufti, and Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF). – Ministry of Defence
