DEPUTY Minister of Education, Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Yusoff bin Haji Ismail, has announced that a big cohort of the newly Politeknik Brunei (PB) graduates have been accepted for employment following completion in a three- month industrial training stint.
During a thanksgiving and awards presentation dinner in celebration of Politeknik Brunei’s inaugural convocation at the Mutiara Grand Ballroom, Kiulap Plaza Hotel on Thursday night, the deputy minister further explained that the represented industry held the belief that the educational institution practises quality teaching and learning in testament to the accomplishment of the graduates.
“Therefore, it is the responsibility of Politeknik Brunei to maintain our quality and consequently multiply our efforts to increase the quality that we’ve set,” added the deputy minister.
“Hopefully this initiative will give inspiration to all students to raise their efforts towards better achievements.”
In recognition of their achievements, eight students received the Special Achievement Award for their participation in educational festivals, national and international competitions.
Meanwhile, a total of 22 students received the Academic Excellence Award; four students from the School of Business’ 1st intake and two students from the 2nd intake.
From the School of Info-Communication and Technology, three students of the 1st intake and two students from the 2nd intake received the award.
Three students from the School of Science and Engineering were also recipients of the award including one from the 1st intake and two from the 2nd intake.
Eight students from the 3rd intake have also been awarded the Academic Excellence Award in their first year; five students from the School of Business; two from the School of Info- Communication and Technology and one from the School of Science and Engineering.
Politeknik Brunei also expressed its appreciation to Telekom Brunei Berhad, Brunei Shell Petroleum, Authority for Info-Communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI), Datastream Technologies Sdn Bhd (DST), Malppy.com, the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), Association of Surveyors, Engineers and Architects (PUJA), Megamas Training Company Sdn Bhd, ITIS Wescot Technology Sdn Bhd and Jocon Contractor for their support.
