Deputy Minister attends Trilateral Air Patrol launch

THE Deputy Minister of Defence, First Admiral (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit, yesterday witnessed the launching of the Trilateral Air Patrol between Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines (INDOMALPHI) at the Subang Air Base in Malaysia, according to a press release.

The Trilateral Air Patrol is an initiative jointly spearheaded by Malaysia, the Philippines and Indonesia and serves to further enhance the initiative after the maritime component was launched on June 19, 2017.

The launching yesterday marked the continued efforts by the three countries in enhancing the maritime security in the region, particularly in the Sulu-Sulawesi Seas, aimed to tackle maritime security threats.

The Minister of Defence of Malaysia, Dato’ Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein, delivered a speech.

Also present at the launching event were Ryamizard Ryacudu, Defence Minister of Indonesia and Delfin Negrillo Lorenzana, Secretary of National Defence of the Republic of the Philippines.

Present to witness the event were Dr Mohamad Maliki bin Osman, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Singapore as well as the Chiefs of Defence Forces of the INDOMALPHI.

An official dinner was also hosted by the Minister of Defence of Malaysia at the Saujana Hotel in Subang.
