THE Department of Agriculture and Agrifood through the Agrifood Industry Division will hold a roadshow this Saturday (Dec 13) at the Community Hall in Kg Serambangun, Tutong District for agrifood entrepreneurs.
It will be attended by 40 entrepreneurs as well as representatives from the Tutong District Office and the Municipal Department. It aims to enhance public awareness on the role of agrifood industry and services provided by the units under it.
Food and drinks entrepreneurs who have yet to register under the division can register and listen to the briefing. They are required to bring their identity card and Business Licence 16 and 17.
Entrepreneurs who register under the Agrifood Industry Division can get advice and consultancies on agrifood industry, get technical service such as lab services, enroll in visits to Micro Business Food and pioneering plant as well as labs found at the division and participate in courses and workshops on processing and packaging.
There will also be a briefing on the six units under the Agrifood Industry Division namely Post-Harvest Technology Unit, Agrifood Product Development Unit, Agrifood Service Unit, Agrifood Packaging Unit, Agrifood Industry Development Unit and Agrifood Incubator Unit.
The roadshow is part of the division’s activity with the cooperation of Tutong Agriculture Development Unit.
Last year, the production of value added agrifood products reached $86.2 million, up by 37 per cent compared to 2012.
The agrifood industry is estimated to develop with the presence of franchise and product variety retailers such as instant noodles, drinks, pastry which have shown an increase.
