A DELEGATION from the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China is in Brunei Darussalam for a working visit until December 12.
The delegation consists of senior officers of the Guangxi Zhuang’s Department of Commerce, Guangxi Beibu Gulf Port International Ltd and Yulin City Representative.
The visit is a follow up to the signing of a memorandum on Brunei-Guangxi Economic Corridor between the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and the Government of the Guangxi Zhuang’s Autonomous Region, which was signed on September 17 2014 in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang.
The objective of the working visit is to explore further the investment potentials of Brunei Darussalam for Chinese investors in the Halal Industry and Halal logistics sectors including the possibility of making Brunei Darussalam as a Halal Hub for the region.
The delegation made a courtesy call to Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Utama Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Yahya bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Haji Bakar, Minister of Industry and Primary Resources.
Among matters discussed were the project proposals for the Brunei-Guangxi Economic Corridor and the investment potentials of the Brunei BioInnovation Corridor for the participation of Chinese investors for the manufacturing of Halal products and services.
The Halal Industry Innovation Centre hosted the delegation, too.
Meetings with relevant stakeholder such as the Ministry of Communications and the Brunei Economic Development Board as well as site visits to the BioInnovation Corridor, Muara Ports facilities and the Pulau Muara Besar Project Development have been arranged.
