THE Language and Literature Bureau (DBP) held a roadshow yesterday for its magazines ‘Mekar’ and ‘Naindung’ at the Bengkurong Primary School.
It was the continuation of a roadshow series held at primary and secondary schools in 2013 in an effort to find out if the publications are well-known amongst the public, especially the youth.
The event began with a recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Ustaz Hj Abdul Shomad bin Hj Sulaima and welcoming remarks were delivered by Bengkurong Primary School’s Headmaster, Cikgu Awg Bakar bin Hj Abdul Rahman, followed by a speech from Hjh Aminah binti Hj Momin, the Director of DBP, who also presented a token of appreciation to the headmaster.
The roadshow then continued with a briefing on the DBP-published magazine led by Dyg Sharyanty binti Hj Md Sharif, Language Officer from the Children’s Magazine Unit, followed by a quiz.
To further enliven the event, DBP’s Literature, Magazine and Journal Section organised group activities, such as colouring and creative writing sessions for the students.
Also held were an exhibition and the sale of various books and magazines published by the Language and Literature Bureau.
The roadshow concluded with the presentation of prizes and a group photo session. Apart from promoting Mekar and Naindung, DBP also took the opportunity yesterday to scout for new talents who can potentially become contributors.
