THE Language and Literature Bureau (DBP) held a closing ceremony and prize presentation yesterday for activities held for the 4th school term holiday at DBP’s Exhibition Hall.
The activities were aimed to inculcate the love for reading in the children, promote creativity and communication skills, to build self-confidence and fill their leisure time with meaningful activities.
The prizes and certificates were presented by the guest of honour, Hajah Aminah binti Haji Momin, Director of DBP.
In his welcoming remark, Haji Sahari bin Haji Nassar, Head of Library of DBP, said that the youth are an important asset of the country as some of them will become future leaders who will determine the direction of Brunei.
He mentioned that DBP’s Library Division will always strive to organise activities that can help produce youth who are knowledgeable, competitive, who can think positively, and visionaries of high integrity with good morals and characters.
A representative of DBP Youth Club, Razlinie binti Abdul Razak, also delivered a speech.
Hadi bin Haji Yahya, Assistant Library Officer Level 1, also presented prizes to some of the winners of the activities.
To enliven the event, various performances were held, which included singing and a fancy costume competition.
The DBP organised various activities throughout the school holiday such as colouring, finding hidden objects, spelling bee, building words, puzzle, pictorial essay and handicraft making.
DBP also conducted poetry and poem workshops, Gulintangan workshop and ‘Permainan Pasang’ workshop, which were well received and participated by children and youth.
Study trips were also organised to places of interest such as Wasai Bedanu in Kampong Kiudang and the Royal Regalia.
