A 30-YEAR-OLD man was jailed for six years after he pleaded guilty to two charges of theft.
Norfazil bin Tamit, who has a criminal record, was described by Judge Hj Abdullah Soefri PD Hj Abidin as “a dangerous man” as his acts were “daring”.
The judge took deterrence into consideration in imposing the sentence.
Norfazil struck on the morning of June 3 as he walked past a bookstore along Jalan Tutong and saw a woman counting money inside.
After the storekeeper stashed the money inside a bag behind the cash registry area, Norfazil pounced and snatched it.
The storekeeper gave chase but to no avail.
The bag contained bank cards, personal cards and just above $5,000 cash.
Police, upon being alerted, promptly arrested Norfazil.
However, none of the stolen items was recovered.
On June 18, he broke into a house. He stole an iPhone 4s, iPad, a wallet containing personal and bank cards as well as $300 cash.
The home owners were in the kitchen when the defendant entered the house and later realised that the items on the bed in their bedroom were missing.
A police report was lodged and this led to the defendant’s arrest.
DPP was Kamaliah Hj Ibrahim.
