THE Royal Customs and Excise Department beat His Majesty the Sultan’s Flight ‘B’ 3-1 to emerge champion of the Ministry of Finance Futsal Cup 2014 organised by the Brunei Investment Agency (BIA) at the Public Works Department Sports Complex yesterday.
The Royal Customs and Excise Department raced to a 2-0 lead, the second of whom attributed to forcing a defensive error through a sudden burst of pace within seconds of seizing the lead.
His Majesty the Sultan’s Flight ‘B’ gave a right go forcing their fellow finalists to commit a multitude of fouls, one of whom warranted a yellow card. They pulled one back but Customs put the tie beyond doubt at the death with the killer goal to clinch the victory.
Meanwhile, the His Majesty the Sultan’s Flight veteran team won the category after winning 3-1 against Supply and State Stores in the final.
Like the open final, His Majesty the Sultan’s Flight veteran team rushed into a 2-0 lead, the second of whom a well-worked team goal.
The Supply and State Stores pulled one back but their opponents struck a third and never allowed a comeback.
There were also individual awards with Pg Suhaimi Pg Hj Abd Rahman of the Brunei Investment Agency and Ak Md Aliyulazim Pg Matalie scooping the awards in the veteran and open category, respectively.
The guest-of-honour at the event was the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Finance, Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad.
