THE President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo and his wife, Ibu Hajah Iriana, along with their delegation, arrived in Brunei Darussalam yesterday morning for a two-day State Visit.
They were welcomed at the Brunei International Airport by His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah binti Pengiran Haji Salleh Ab Rahaman.
Also present were Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Education as the minister in attendance, and his spouse.
Some 4,000 students lined the main road towards the main entrance of Istana Nurul Iman, waving flags of both countries to welcome the State Visit of the Indonesian President.
The delegation of the President of the Republic of Indonesia includes Sofian A Djalil, the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs; Retno Lestari Priansari Marsudi, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Rachmat Gobel, Minister of Commerce; M Abdul Hanif, Minister of Labour; Nila Djuwita Anfasa Moeloek, Minister of Health; Nusron Wahid, Head of the National Agency for the Placement and Protection; and senior officials from the Republic of Indonesia.
Joko Widodo and his wife were accorded an official welcoming ceremony at Istana Nurul Iman and had an audience with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha.
The Indonesian President and wife also visited Kampong Ayer and the Royal Regalia, and attended a state banquet last night.
Today, Joko Widodo will be having a morning walk and breakfast at a recreational park and will be visiting Brunei LNG Sendirian Berhad.
The Indonesian President and his wife will also be meeting the Indonesian community in the country at the Indonesian Embassy in Jalan Kebangsaan, before leaving the country in the afternoon.
