THE Local Employment and Workforce Development Agency (APTK) under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) launched the Brunei Mini Job Fair yesterday.
The two-day event, which was organised with the support of the Department of Economic Planning and Development (JPKE) under the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), was held at the Pusat Insani in Seria of the Belait District.
Attending the event as the guest of honour was Awang Haji Haris bin Haji Othman, the Belait District Officer, along with Haji Shahrul Jeffri bin Dato Paduka Haji Ibrahim, Head of APTK, as the event’s chairperson.
Twenty companies attended the event, offering a total of 405 job vacancies.
The Belait District Officer, in his speech said, to the companies that are participating in this Mini Job Fair, “I urge them to pay more attention in recruiting the local youth, in line with the government’s concern towards the unemployment scenario in the Sultanate.
“I suggest and remind the companies to participate in the training schemes and services (SLP) organised by MoHA with the support of JPKE at the PMO, as well as to prepare a working scheme that is more transparent and easily understandable by the employees.
“I also urge the companies to prepare incentives and facilities which are attractive to the employees to ensure that they stay in the company as well as to conduct induction programmes for new recruits and to prepare continuous training programmes towards the development and career progression of the employees.”
The public is welcome to visit the two-day event, which ends today at 4pm.
However, to avoid congestion, jobseekers who have not registered with APTK are advised to pre-register at APTK’s head office of at the Ministry of Home Affairs building in the capital, or at any of the Labour Department’s district branches.
