BOGOTA (dpa) – A Colombian politician plans to pursue a childhood dream for a month by taking the wheel of a taxi in the streets of Bogota.
Colombian Senator Antonio Navarro Wolff Wednesday said he would donate the proceeds to a children’s hospital.
“You need to do the things you like before you die,” he said.
He likened his dream of being a taxi driver to the dreams of others, for example, to become a firefighter.
“This is a wish I have had for a very long time: I want to know what it feels like to be a (taxi) driver,” he said.
Navarro Wolff, 66, a former leader of the now extinct M-19 rebel group as well as former presidential candidate and former minister, said he took a course with a taxi company to do well in his temporary job on the streets of Bogota.
The Green Alliance legislator also noted that he checked that his work outside Congress did not violate any rules, and stressed that he sought no political gain and intended only to make an old dream come true.
