BANK Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) yesterday denied that it had issued any statement through the social media for customers to visit its branches to claim their interest or remaining cash, saying that the message was a fake.
On Thursday, a message asking BIBD customers to claim their interest or remaining money from the bank was circulated via WhatsApp.
According to the message, customers would be entitled to make a claim if they have $400 in savings with the bank, whereas former BIBD customers would also be eligible if their savings are not over $2,000. Claims for all insurances would also be entertained, the message added.
Speaking to the Weekend Bulletin, a representative from BIBD confirmed that the message was untrue and that the bank did not issue such a statement to any of its customers.
The bank, however, acknow-ledged that some customers had contacted the bank regarding the claims.
