Berlin (dpa) – Seemingly, all it takes is a press of the home button to shut down an app on the iOS or Android systems.
But, in reality, hitting that button doesn’t shut down the app, which means the program might run in the background, using up mobile-phone power and data volumes.
To prevent this, users need to make sure they’re closing apps completely if it is no longer needed.
With Android, it’s sometimes enough just to hit the Back button. But to be sure, tap on the button in the bottom right. This will pull up all running apps. Most can then be closed with a simple swipe.
The same can be achieved with a double-click of the Home button in iOS.
Again, simply swiping the app thumbnail upward will ensure that it shuts down.
