THE Department of Mosque Affairs, Ministry of Religious Affairs, will be organising a nationwide cleaning campaign at mosques, suraus and prayer halls in conjunction with Hijrah 1436/2014M celebration.
This was highlighted at a press conference yesterday at the meeting room of the Department of Mosque Affairs.
The campaign will be held simultaneously at 117 mosques, suraus and prayer halls (Balai Ibadat) nationwide tomorrow. The launching will be held at five mosques. At Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Silver Jubli Mosque in Kampong Jangsak, the guest of honour will be the Minister of Religious Affairs, Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohammad bin Pengiran Haji Abdul Rahman.
The guest of honour at Mohamed Bolkiah Mosque in Kampong Serusop will be the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs, Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar; the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Mohd Yusof will be attending the launching at Zainab Mosque in Kampong Lumut, Belait District; Awang Haji Mohd ‘Abdoh bin Dato Seri Setia Haji Abd Salam at Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque in Pekan Tutong, Tutong District; and the Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Awg Haji Harun bin Haji Junid at Mohd Salleh Mosque in Pekan Bangar, Temburong District.
The campaign will also see the participation of special invited guests, directors, senior officials as well as staff from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Royal Brunei Police Force, Fire and Rescue Department, and Prisons Department. Also attending are members of the National Service Programme, scouts, members of the mosque committee and nearby village residents.
The objective of the campaign is to commemorate the Islamic glory days in conjunction with Hijrah 1436 celebration and at the same time act as a platform to organise meaningful activities at mosques throughout the country.
Furthermore, it is also to instil and cultivate caring attitude towards the beauty and cleanliness of mosques and encourage team building spirit and cooperation between mosque officers and committees and the local community.
To ensure the hygiene at mosques especially the place of worship and toilet, the department in collaboration with the Building and Maintenance Section, Ministry of Religious Affairs, has contracted several companies for their cleaning service.
