MUSLIMS in the Sultanate will observe the new year 1436 Hijrah in a week as the nation gears up to mark the religious celebration in remembering the migration of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) from Makkah Al-Mukarramah to Madinah Al-Munawwarah.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs has lined-up numerous side events that include a cleaning campaign at mosques, suraus and prayer halls across the country on 1st Muharram 1436 Hijrah corresponding to October 25, starting 7am.
The cleaning campaign will be focused at the Sultan Hj Hassanal Bolkiah Silver Jubilee Mosque in Kg Jangsak, Mohammed Bolkiah Mosque in Kg Serusop, Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque in Tutong town, Zainab Mosque in Lumut and Utama Mohammed Salleh Mosque in Temburong.
The new Hijrah year, to fall on October 24, will begin with the recitation of end-of-year 1435 Hijrah prayers prior to Maghrib prayer. This will be followed by the recitation of beginning of the new-year 1436 Hijrah prayers to be held after the call for Maghrib prayer.
This will be held simultaneously at mosques, suraus and prayer halls across the country. Muslims are welcome to attend and glorify the celebration and to gain blessings from Allah the Almighty.
The theme for this year is ‘United to support the laws of Allah.’
There will also be a presentation of prizes for babies born on 1st of Muharram 1436 Hijrah to be held on 2nd of Muharram 1436 Hijrah – corresponding to October 26, at all government hospitals. A premier forum to mark the new year 1436 Hijrah will also be held in Temburong.
