THE handing over of Cisco switch and network devices, and a certificate presentation ceremony were held yesterday at Institut Teknologi Brunei (ITB).
Present as the guest of honour was Pengiran Dr Haji Saiful Baharin bin Pengiran Haji Duraman, Assistant Vice Chancellor (Industry & Services) of ITB.
Also present during the event were Mohd Husini bin Haji Bakar, Legal and Communication Manager of Brunei LNG Sdn Bhd, and senior officials from ITB and Brunei LNG.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by a speech by the guest of honour.
The event then proceeded with the handing over of a list of the Cisco switch and network devices by Mohd Husini on behalf of Brunei LNG Sdn Bhd to the guest of honour, who received it on behalf of ITB.
Cisco completion certificates were then presented to the recipients from the e-Government National Centre (eGNC) at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Centre, ITB for passing their CCNA Exploration Course by Pengiran Dr Haji Saiful Baharin.
ITB teamed up with Cisco, a worldwide leader in networking to form the ITB Cisco Academy Programme in 2012. The programme was established to provide Information and Communications Technology (ICT) education and help its students prepare for entry-level career opportunities.
The students are taught how to design, build, secure, and troubleshoot computer networks, and also to develop the skills needed to compete in an increasingly technology-dependent global workforce.
Brunei LNG is contributing their Cisco switches to ITB to further enhance the capability of the ITB Cisco Training Lab and thereby enhancing the teaching, learning and practice of the students and participants.
The CCNA Exploration Course delivered in ITB was organised as part of a community service commitment by the School of Computing and Informatics (SCI), ITB, and was conducted by the instructor, Armanadurni Abdul Rahman, a lecturer at the SCI.
ITB has been closely collaborating with Brunei LNG in a number of fields, including a partnership in organising the Crown Prince CIPTA Award competition for the last 10 years.
The guest of honour also presented the Cisco completion certificates to two staff from the ICT Centre of ITB, and eight staff from the eGNC, PMO. An appreciation certificate was also presented to the course instructor, Armanadurni Abdul Rahman from ITB.
