Chung Hwa Middle School emerges champion

CHUNG Hwa Middle School emerged as champion in the final of the Sports Championship for Primary Schools Cluster 1 2017 held recently at the Berakas Sports Complex.

The event was organised by the Department of Co-Curriculum Education of the Ministry of Education.

Chung Hwa Middle School managed to grab 15 gold, six silver and one bronze medals before they were announced the champion of the sportsmanship competition.

Meanwhile, the Tungku Primary School came in second place with two golds, four silver and two bronze medals, followed by Datu Ratna Haji Muhammad Jaafar Primary School Kiarong with to grab one gold, three silver and five bronze medals.

The two-day event saw students from a total of 21 schools from Cluster 1 competing against one another in various sporting events including long jump, high jump, 100-metre run, 200-metre run, 400-metre run, 800-metre run, relay run and many others.

The guest of honour was Kefli bin Haji Ja’afar, President of Brunei Darussalam Athletics Federation (BDAF) who later presented the prizes to the winners.

The event was part of an annual project for the department’s Physical Unit in recognising and develop the athletic skills among primary school students and at the same time, to identify ones that has the sporting potentials and capabilities.
