THE 2015 intake of Microsoft Showcase Schools was announced recently at the Microsoft in Education Global Forum 2014 in Miami. Chung Hwa Middle School (BSB) was selected for its excellence in transforming its learning environment to deliver more personalised education to students, using mobile and cloud technology to better prepare students for success in the workplace.
According to a press release, it joins a community of over 150 schools from around the world, recognised to celebrate their truly pioneering efforts and innovation in rethinking teaching, learning and assessment in order to drive deep 21st century competencies.
As a Showcase School, the school will work closely with Microsoft to lead innovation in education and communicate a vision for education enabled by technology through the hosting and mentoring of other schools in the community on transformational educational practices.
“Microsoft Showcase Schools are inspiring examples of how schools are using mobile-first, cloud-first technology to increase students’ productivity and develop the skills needed in the workplace,” said Haniza Zakariya, Country Manager of Microsoft Brunei.
“As Microsoft technologies are easier, user friendly and more intuitive, now any teacher, not only ICT teacher, can use technology forteaching. We are proud for Chung Hwa BSB to have seized this opportunity. Technology will enable a more personalised education for their students, allowing them to do and achieve more and be better prepared for the labour market.”
Chung Hwa Middle School will be attending the BETT Awards Gala Dinner to receive their recognition. The BETT Asia School Leaders Academy is to be held at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Center in Singapore from December 3 to 4 and provides a unique opportunity for the school leader community to witness and experience the latest in education technology and software resources.
