CHEVROLET Brunei hosted a welcoming dinner for members of the Captiva Chevy Club (3C) Indonesia who arrived in the country for the “Brunei Explorers Touring 2014” where members travel to three countries namely Indonesia, Malaysia and Brunei.
On hand to welcome the members and their family was General Manager of Chevrolet Brunei, Noormala Othman.
President of 3C, Pak Budi in a brief interview noted that it was part of the annual road trip activity where the club would organise several short trips and at least one long road trip annually.
It amongst all serves to promote networking and friendship among 4×4 communities in the three countries while at the same time build the brand awareness of Chevrolet Captiva.
Acting as the co-leader of the trip, he noted that the challenging part of the trip was on the preparations and administration side where the participating 18 cars from Jakarta were initially shipped from Jakarta Port to Balikpapan while the 73 participants took a flight to Balikpapan before beginning the road trip.
His leading partner, Pak Yani, meanwhile added that the weather and journey were smooth sailing but the challenging part was at the border control posts.
“Our journey was smooth, we passed through scenic views but the only challenge for me was handling the immigration and customs clearance as having a group of 73 people travelling on cars was a bit hectic and time consuming but Immigration and Customs officials at Sg Tujoh were accommodating and helpful.”
Pak Budi further added that from Pontianak they had one Captiva each joining them before heading to Kuching for a night stop over.
The journey continued to Bintulu for another night before driving straight to Brunei the following morning.
Asked how the performance and fuel efficiency of the Captiva was throughout the journey, Pak Budi gave his “two thumbs-up”, adding that it was a smooth sailing for drivers and passengers alike.
Noormala meanwhile noted that 2014 has been a very good year for Chevrolet Brunei but 2015 will be an exciting year for the people in Brunei as there are more attractive offers from GHK Motors.
“Chevrolet, with its worldwide endorsement with Manchester United FC, will have exciting plans for 2015,” she added.
The event also saw the presence of local Captiva owners and SEPADU Team Brunei marked a fruitful collaboration between Chevrolet Brunei and Chevrolet Indonesia as it brought together Captiva owners from both countries to share their experiences and ideas of the 2.4L engine.
Yesterday, the exploration trip, which is being jointly sponsored by Indonesia’s state-owned Pertamina Lubricants and General Motors Indonesia continued the journey to neighbouring Kota Kinabalu, Sabah before heading back with a stop at the popular Gua Niah in Sarawak.
