CHINESE construction and engineering group, China Gezhouba Group Corporation (CGGC), has expressed interest in a number of future local mega-infrastructure developments and aims to contribute to the society here as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, a press release stated.
CGGC is currently working with Haji Adinin and Sons (B) for a multi-billion-dollar project and has already expressed interest in its development.
The company said it aims to sponsor around 15 to 20 local graduate students to China as part of their social responsibility goal upon setting up its presence in the Sultanate.
CGGC is one of the biggest infrastructure development compa-nies in China which has participated in the construction of iconic projects in China and has reportedly invested in and constructed highways, developed real estates, generated hydropower, and manufactured cement and civil explosives in many other countries.
One of its latest and iconic projects was the U$15 billion south-to-north water diversion project which was completed at the end of last year. Already in operation, the Grand Canal transports water 1,430km away from the Danjiangkou reservoir in central China’s Hubei Province to arid areas of Beijing as well as to the northern provinces of Hebei and Henan and Tianjin benefitting over 100 million people.

CGGC is also very proactive in fulfilling its social responsibilities during the execution of global contracts in water, agriculture and energy related works and infrastructure projects in Europe, Latin America, Asia, Oceania and Africa.
