THE Khat Jawi course held by the Islamic Dakwah Centre ended with certificates being presented to 21 participants by the the Acting Assistant Director of the centre, Ustaz Abdul Aziz bin Haji Abdul Kahar.
The seven-day course was facilitated by Teguh Prastio from the Al-Quran Calligraphy Board of Indonesia.
The core components of the course included the concepts, techniques and understanding of the art of Jawi calligraphy.
According to the centre, the aims of the course are to generate and elevate Jawi calligraphy skills and knowledge by searching for people with a talent in this field.
It is also hoped that the workshop can generate awareness and interest among local Jawi enthusiasts.
The course, which is conducted once every two years, was organised by the Production Unit of the Research and Production Section of the Islamic Dakwah Centre.
