MALAYSIAN celebrity chef and QBB Pure Ghee Ambassador Chef Dato Ismail Ahmad yesterday made his second appearance, staging a cooking demonstration at the 15th Consumer Fair which is currently ongoing at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas.
The popular chef shared with the audience the cooking method and recipe of his signature dish, the Arabic Vegetarian Rice, which included the use of the featured QBB Pure Ghee product.
He also shared his knowledge on menu planning, daily menus, special menus as well as storage methods and the importance of keeping an eye on the expiry date of goods purchased at grocery stores.
Speaking to the Sunday Bulletin, Chef Dato Ismail noted that vegetarian dishes bring the concept of fresh, organic ingredients, before going on to add, “I am trying to encourage more people to eat vegetables, instead of excessive protein, for a balanced diet.”
“When you cook you have to start fresh and end it fresh, and avoid using artificial colourings and additives that are not properly announced to food users. Use organic products to keep your family healthy.”
Lactalis Singapore Business Development Manager Eric Chai explained that ghee is used as a healthy alternative to butter and oil as it has a very high burning point during cooking. Normal butter or oil burns and smokes easily, producing free radicals in food which contribute to cancer and many serious diseases.
The audience later sampled the prepared dishes, before having their pictures taken with the celebrity chef whose appearance was made possible by Syarikat Teeyem Majeed, the distributor of QBB Pure Ghee products in Brunei. A quiz also allowed audience members the chance to take home prizes and QBB Pure Ghee products.
