RECENTLY, a group of 42 Year 6 pupils and three teachers from Chung Ching Middle School (CCMS) participated in an educational field trip after completing their PSR examination.
The first stop was the Data Stream Technology (DST) Sdn Bhd headquarters.
The group was welcomed by Hj Abdul Wahab, one of the corporate officials of DST Communications.
A brief talk on the history and development of the company was delivered by the corporate managers of DST Communications.
Being on the 12th floor of the DST headquarters building allowed the students to have a bird’s eye view of the surrounding area.
The group also took the opportunity to visit the radio station in the building, Kristal FM, and meet a few local DJs.
The next stop the Meteorological Department in Berakas.
The pupils were briefed about the daily process of weather forecast reading at the weather station, how it is conducted before it was released to the public through various channels.
Throughout the visit, some of the pupils were inspired by the officers and wish to work there when they finish their study.
The final stop in the journey was the Prisons Department in Jerudong.
The Prisons Department officer briefed the group about crimes and punishment in Brunei, accompanied by clips.
The excursion allowed the pupils to catch a glimpse of how private and public departments work, while also giving them the opportunity to gain knowledge that cannot be learned within the four walls of a classroom.
