THE Brunei Breast Cancer Support Group received a boost to its efforts in helping breast cancer patients with the contribution of $7,190 from Susan’s Fitness Studio, yesterday.
The contribution came from a collection during the Zumba Charity for Breast Cancer Week 2014 that took place on October 11 at the Berakas Indoor Stadium. The charity event attracted some 300-500 participants.
On hand to receive the contribution from Chris Phang was the president of Brunei Breast Cancer Support Group, Datin Hajah Sahaidah Hj Awang Taib.
Susan’s Fitness Studio expressed their gratitude to the event partners, the Brunei Breast Cancer Support Group, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, as well as the Ministry of Home Affairs for the support. It also thanked the participants who have made the event a success. Datin Hajah Sahaidah Hj Awang Taib also appreciated Susan’s Fitness Studio for the contribution.
According to Matron (Rtd) Hajah Dayang Jaliha Hj Momin, Secretary of The Brunei Breast Cancer Support Group, the money will be put into the group’s fund and will be used to purchase mastectomy bras for breast cancer patients, as well as to fund patients’ overseas treatments.
She added, “The Brunei Breast Cancer Support Group is an NGO and non-profitable organisation. We hope to help breast cancer patients as well as to raise awareness for women of all ages to perform breast self-examination at least once a month.”
