WE ARE one of the thousands of runners who took part in the “Larian Keputeraan 2014” organised by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports on August 31, 2014.
Firstly, we would like to compliment the ministry’s initiative in promoting a healthy lifestyle in conjunction with the birthday of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
However, we are disappointed with the management of the run in relation to the distribution of the cash prizes to the winners.
We were told to collect the cash prizes a month after the event (this was stated in letter signed by a government officer which was given to us during the medal presentation on August 31, 2014). Until today, we have not received or heard any official announcement or letter from the organiser regarding the collection of our prizes.
When we inquired at the ministry we received different answers from the staff: “They are not sure, we don’t know” and “It’s already with the Ministry of Finance”.
We believe we deserve it because of our effort we had put in, though we know we can’t put a price to it.
It has been almost three months since the event and we would like to know why it has taken this long for the organiser to give the respective runners their prizes that they won and deserve?
