THE Language and Literature Bureau (DBP) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports is inviting the participation of literature writers, scholars, and academicians, students of higher education institutions as well as members of the public to join the Pangsura Academic Essay Writing Competition.
Pangsura is an Academic Journal of Southeast Asian Literature Studies bi-annually published by DBP. The journal that uses Malay language as its medium explains and highlights literature studies and its findings in Brunei as well as other Southeast Asian countries.
The academic essay writing is aimed at empowering Malay language as the official language of the Sultanate and at the same time upholding the vision and mission of the bureau in consolidating their role.
In addition, the competition is also aimed at enhancing and inculcating the reading habit as part of our culture and to identify qualitative and quantitative styles of writing for the journal’s publication.
The competition is open for citizens and permanent residents of Brunei Darussalam aged 18 years and above. Entry forms can be obtained from Pangsura Journal Edition 32 (Jurnal Pangsura Edisi 32).
The winner of this competition will receive a cash prize of $2,500, a certificate and a plaque. Second prize is $2,000 cash, a certificate and a plaque, while the third place winner will take home a cash prize of $1, 000, a certificate and a plaque.
