HIS Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam said yesterday he was very concerned about the recent murder at a popular public recreational area.
Delivering a titah in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha, His Majesty said the incident is most regrettable as it could tarnish the nation’s good reputation in upholding security and peace.
His Majesty said that Brunei is not a haven for criminals, adding that the country will not be soft in dealing with any crime, minor or major.
His Majesty urged security agencies to find the perpetrator(s) and called on the public to continue to cooperate with law enforcers for a more effective crime prevention.
His Majesty also spoke of the significance of Takbir and Zikir to the country.
“Takbir is the (lafaz) pronouncement of the greatness of Allah the Almighty.
“It is with the lafaz that Brunei, as an independent nation, continues to progress.”
Takbir and Zikir make the country unique and respected, His Majesty said, noting the peace, harmony, justice and solidarity which are found in Brunei that ensure no divisions amongst the citizens or residents.
His Majesty believed that this is a blessing from exalting the greatness of Allah the Almighty through Takbir and Zikir. It is the people’s responsibility to ensure that the ‘Nikmat’ – peace, harmony, justice and solidarity – continues in the country.
It is important that all the nation’s mechanisms which maintain these aspects are strengthened, His Majesty said.
His Majesty also called on the people to follow the example of Prophet Ibrahim ‘Alaihissalam who was known for his obedience to Allah the Almighty and his contribution to the peace and prosperity of the Ummah.
The Prophet was known for his prayer (Doa) for Mecca to be a place of peace and “rezeki” of various fruits.
His Majesty said today we can witness the result of his prayer as not only residents of Mecca but also Muslim visitors to the holy land enjoy peace and tranquility.
His Majesty called for the people to follow Prophet Ibrahim ‘Alaihissalam’s example and pray for Brunei Darussalam to always be filled with peace, tranquility and prosperity.
His Majesty said he and the royal family wish all citizens and residents of Brunei Darussalam ‘Selamat Hari Raya Aidiladha’ and pray that they will always be blessed by Allah the Almighty.
