SEVERAL attempted cable thefts early yesterday morning caused a major disruption to the Telekom Brunei Berhad (TelBru) telephony and Internet services.
The “cable cut incidents” were detected at three different locations – Jalan Wasan in Kampong Batang Mitus, Jalan Lumapas in Kampong Junjongan and Kampong Peramu in Kampong Ayer – between 1am to 4am yesterday, TelBru said in a statement.
“Our technical teams have been deployed to all the affected areas to rectify the affected services as soon as possible. All rectification works are scheduled to be completed by 5pm today (Monday),” TelBru said.
Apart from the Brunei-Muara District, the damage has affected customers residing in other districts, including Tutong and Kuala Belait areas, TelBru said.
TelBru has appealed to people, who witness cable thefts, to report the matter immediately to the nearest police station for further action.
“TelBru would like to apologise to all the affected customers and regrets any inconvenience caused by this incident. For any inquiries, please contact Customer Care at 111,” the statement said.
