THE Commonwealth Asia Alliance Young Entrepreneurs (CAAYE) 2014 Summit Closing Dinner was held last night at The Empire Hotel and Country Club’s Indera Kayangan Ballroom with the Minister of Industry and Primary Resources, Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Utama Dato Seri Setia Awg Hj Yahya bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Awg Hj Bakar, as the guest of honour.
In his keynote address, the minister among others said that young entrepre-neurs are essentially “the driving forces behind any successful ventures” given their energy and dynamism.
Prior to the closing ceremony, which was also attended by committee members and invited guests, the CAAYE delegates from over nine countries took a closer look at Brunei’s businesses, visiting local companies such as Ideal, Hana Soy, Bio Innovation Park and Golden Corp, among others.
They also took part in the Women in Entrepreneurship Workshop organised by the Embassy of the United States as well as an investment session with the Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB).
Following his keynote address, the guest of honour presented Suraj Rajan, the Foun-der and CEO of SR Container Carriers in India, with the CAAYE Challenge Winner 2014 award. CAAYE President 2014 Nurul-Huda Mohamed Afandi also handed over the CAAYE Presidency 2015 and CAAYE Interim Meeting Host 2015 to Summit Chair 2014 and CAAYE Brunei representative Fatin Arifin.
The ceremony concluded with some cultural performances.
