THE Brunei Institution of Geomatics (BIG) organised its 13th Annual General Meeting (AGM) yesterday at the It’s a Grind Coffee House’s outlet at Citis Square in Serusop.
Among the main agendas of the meeting included certificate presentation to former and new members of BIG, approval of minutes of the 12th AGM, discussing report of activities and amendments of the Constitution, approve the Financial Report and conducting the election for new council members (2018-2020).
Pengiran Haji Matusin bin Pengiran Haji Matasan (pic above), the President of BIG (2015-2017) said that BIG is a professional institution in which its membership is open to land surveyors, land administrators, town planners and environmental administrators.
“BIG was established in 2003 and the membership is increasing over the years and now it has about 60 members. I am happy to say that this number is growing from time to time and that is BIG’s effort to recruit as many members from different disciplines,” he said.
Among the objectives of the establishment of BIG are to promote and advance the science benefit and application of Geomatics for mankind and community; to foster regional and international cooperation and transfer of technology; and to encourage communication between persons entrusted with the technical responsibility for the planning, design and execution of Geomatics practices.
