IN A blunt disregard to public health safety, two ice manufacturing businesses and one soya bean factory operating in the vicinity of Berakas were found to be operating illegally without a proper ‘miscellaneous licence’ last week during an operation conducted by the Law Enforcement Unit of the BSB Municipal Department.
Health Services Department officials under the Ministry of Health also took part in the operation. The Law Enforcement Unit personnel immediately stopped the operation of the three factories.
The BSB Municipal Department has urged business operators to obtain a proper licence and operate their businesses only in a permitted location.
The enforcement personnel will continue to monitor business premises under its jurisdiction to make sure that business premises comply with the rule and regulations.
