MONTHS of hard work finally paid off for Year 2 students of Business School (SP) yesterday when the school successfully kicked off its charity event ‘SP Fiesta 2014’ at the parking area of Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas.
Datin Paduka Hajah Adina binti Othman, Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, yesterday morning officiated the event in her capacity as the guest of honour.
The two-day annual event is part of the final year diploma project to give the students first-hand experience in running a business. One of the objectives of the event is to contribute to the Centre for Children with Special Needs (KACA). The public can visit ‘SP Fiesta’ to support the students’ business initiatives and contribute to a good cause today.
Besides giving ideas about making profit, the annual event offers the students opportunities to test their organisational skills.
Pg Noorardinawati Pg Ahmad, deputy organising chairperson of the event and a student said, “We have 125 students who were divided into 16 groups. We started preparation in June and today we are finally able to kick-start our event.”
She said the toughest part of organising the programme was the process of getting approval for the event. She said the students have learned how to approach different government agencies to obtain approvals for the event. “We now know where to go and what to do if we need to organise an event in the future.”
Among the activities at the event include car show, dart tournament, cat show and competition, Lego competition, haunted house, Nerf vs zombie, fixie competition, fixie polo tournament, Tamiya tournament, Zumba, flying fox, skate tournament and graffiti art demo.
