GEORGE TOWN (Bernama) – Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana), the operator of Rapid Penang bus service, will beef up its security system to ensure the safety of its drivers and passengers.
Prasarana Group director and Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd chief executive officer, Zulkifli Mohd Yusoff said the group had currently, installed closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in its buses.
“We are also mulling over the need to partition the driver from passengers to prevent any untoward incident against our bus drivers,” he said.
He was speaking to reporters after accompanying Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng to visit injured Rapid Penang bus driver Aisyamudin Yaacob at the Penang General Hospital yesterday.
Last Monday, Aisyamudin, 26, was stabbed several times on the right thigh by a female passenger when he refused to drop her at an undesignated stop as demanded by the woman.
