HAJI Affandi Hj Julaihi’s four-goal performance inspired BSRC Veterans to an emphatic 6-0 win against Miisa United FC and earned a berth in the next round of the VFA FA Cup at the JKR Field yesterday.
Miisa could not live with BSRC’s positive fluency and the game could have won by a bigger margin if it weren’t for indecisive finishing.
Miisa nearly got their name in the score-sheet after conceding so early in the second half as Shahri Hj Hasim’s free-kick rattled against the crossbar.
Hj Affandi struck twice in the 18th and 26th minute before completing his hat-trick in the 48th minute. Suhan Siba contributed the rout in the 34th minute.
Emran Hj Yaakup missed a chance to go further ahead after sending his shot wide while Hj Affandi returned again to terrorise the defence with a header that travelled harmlessly past the keeper.
BSRC launched attacks after attacks and an opportunity passed by when Hj Jazmi Mohd Haadi’s effort from a good position ended wide.
However, BSRC did find the net from a perfectly built team move quite possibly what they have been working on in training.
BSRC exchanged tidy passes on one end of the pitch in a perfect example of utilising possession as a player pulled off a delicate shimmy and created space before providing the platform for a pass into the edge of the box.
The secondary assist to the other end of the pitch culminated with an ominous final pass leaving Hj Bakar Hj Sulaiman the simplest of tasks to tap home his side’s 5th goal in the 76th minute.
BSRC’s substitute Hj Annuar Hj Seidel took advantage of Josley Hj Osman’s slip and set up Hj Affandi’s fourth of the game seven minutes from time.
There were still time for a consolation but Aji Hussin fired a golden opportunity wide with only the keeper to beat from close range.
Hj Affandi probably had more shots than any other player in the game and attempted an ambitious volley in injury time.
BSRC will be joined by PSJD who thrashed Kilugus FC 5-0, Riwayat FC who emerged 5-1 winners over Satria and I- Team, conquerors of PBDB following a 2-1 win, in the next round of the DST FA Cup.
The other already confirmed teams include defending champions Al Idrus, M.O.D, Astavilla FC and BESA FC.
Meanwhile in Mukim Seria, Norezam Zaini struck deep in injury time to give Menengah FC a 1-0 win over Mangelella in the DST National Football Veteran President’s Cup.
