BRUNEI Shell Recreation Club (BSRC) got off to a flyer in the Brunei Futsal League but their coach thinks they can still improve after a close 2-1 victory against Syahkampong at the Indoor Stadium last night.
BSRC coach Sumardi bin Haji Mohd Taib believed that his charges can go a long way if they comply with his instructions following the win.
“They performed to around 30 percent and I think they can still get better,” said the Brunei- Muara-based coach.
His team are all from the Belait district with the junior players representing PBDB.
Former B League (Brunei former national league) players also form part of the squad so the players have field experience.
The players will no longer be eligible to play in the country’s football league at least for this season.
Sumardi calls for harmony among his players in the next game in order to get a good understanding of the team’s play.
Their team will be involved in a friendly before a crunch game against MS ABDB.
Md Zainul Ariffin gave Syahkampong the lead on the 12th minute only for Abd Wafi to level proceedings five minutes later.
BSRC found the winner through Md Azizul in the 36th minute but Syahkampong had chances to steal a point at the death.
Syahkampong’s forward players linked up well but they lost composure at the crucial moment with BSRC’s goalkeeper Md Aiman Syafiq relieved that the ball skied past him.
Md Aiman appeared to drop a ball but Syahkampong could not react fast to divert the ball into the empty net in what turned out to be the last opportunity.
