THE Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate’s Court yesterday sentenced a Bruneian woman to serve four months jail after she failed to pay a $2,300 fine for a conviction on her own guilty pleas to charges of drugs abuse.
Magistrate Shahyzul Rahman heard that Masni binti Jumat had consumed meth on March 27, 2007, and at the same time possessed drug paraphernalia at a house in Kampong Bukit Salat.
The defendant was arrested during a raid by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officers who had been tipped off on drugs activities at the house.
The defendant immediately admitted to taking drugs the previous night, but said she had nothing drug-related to hand over.
However, further inspections led to the discovery of the defendant’s paraphernalia for the consumption of meth.
The defendant’s urine sample was also taken and later tested positive for the same class A drug.
