ALI Suhif won the grand prize of a new house in the Grand Motors’ 30th anniversary Grand Draw held on Saturday night at the Orchid Garden hotel.
Ali Suhif Mohammad and his wife had their third child, a baby girl, in October last year and was planning of building a house of their own.
His dream of having his own house became a reality when he won himself a brand new semi-detached house worth an estimated $300,000 at the prime location of Tanjung Bunut.
The Army personnel who is currently staying at Penanjong Camp said in an interview, “I can’t believe that I have won a house. This is the best day in my life and my family. We always wanted a house of our own.”
Ali Suhif Mohammad was the first of three finalists to pick a key to try to open the door to the grand prize of the new home and he did it with the first key. The young father said, “I was very nervous and as the key turned I was able to open the door, I couldn’t believe it!”
He added, “Maybe my baby girl’s luck is with me today. She was born October last year.”
Ali Suhif bought a Kia Rio before Hari Raya last year to be eligible for the draw. Speaking about the car he bought, he said, “it’s a good car and its affordable. To date, I haven’t had any problem with the car.”
Another 97 shortlisted lucky customers also walked home with fabulous prizes at the Grand Draw.
Second prize of a brand new Kia Optima went to Aei Kim Cho while third prize of a new Cerato went to Nurul Norhazwani binti Saini. Kia has sold some 1,700 vehicles during the promotional period for the lucky draw.
Last year, the Korea carmaker sold 2,640 units in the country and is among the second most popular cars in Brunei behind Toyota in first place.
Frankie Ho, the Managing Director of Grand Motors in his speech lauded the achievements of Kia in Brunei and thanked the local customers for their supports. Present at the ceremony were, Cho Won-myung, Korean Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam, Teng Chin Ying, Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Hj Ahmad bin Hj Jumat, Pengiran Sanggamara Diraja Major General (Rtd) Pengiran Hj Ibnu Ba’asith bin Pengiran Datu Penghulu Pengiran Hj Apong and other invited guests.
