KOTA KINABALU – A 35-year-old Bruneian charged with trafficking 52.1 grammes of syabu will go on trial April 20-24 next year.
Mohammad Noor Hj Jumat, who appeared before High Court Judge Ravinthran N Paramaguru, is accused of committing the offence at 9.30pm on Nov 19, 2013, in a house at Taman Nelly, Phase 8C, Jalan Nountun, in Inanam, the Daily Express reported.
Mohammad Noor faces the mandatory death sentence if convicted under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
The judge also set Jan 30 next year for pre-trial case management. Mohammad Noor is represented by counsel Dato’ Sri Rakhbir Singh. According to Deputy Public Prosecutor Luke Ressa Balang, the prosecution will produce 12 witnesses.
