THE three players taking the step up from the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy (HBT) squad have all agreed that they have learnt a thing or two from the DPMM FC players ahead of their trip to Vientiane, Laos for the Asean Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup qualifying.
Reduan Haji Petara, Muhammad Nurikhwan Othman and Ak Yura Indera Putera Pg Yunus have all been selected with the 17 DPMM FC players for the qualifying.
The trio have joined the DPMM FC-based players in training over the last three weeks while they were busy preparing for the final stretch of the S League season.
All three said they were proud of their selection and it is interesting to see where the chemistry will originate particularly as midfielder Nurikhwan has seemingly combined effectively with HBT team-mate Adi Said.
Nurikhwan said that he will learn from the experience working with the senior players. He shared that there is competition for places in the starting line-up.
“In terms of passing, the players (from DPMM FC) have a lot of quality. They have a lot of experience,” he added.
“They are more equipped in football and this is where we follow them,” Nurikhwan added.
His club team-mate Reduan said that the senior players supported them in their preparations.
Since representing the country at the HBT Asean Youth championships last August, Reduan, together with Nurikhwan, helped guide Indera SC to the DST Super League title.
Ak Yura Indera, one of the country’s brightest prospects, said that the quality of the senior players who play professionally were miles ahead than his previous teams.
“We tried out various positions during the training. The DPMM FC players have also given us advices and tips on how to better conduct ourselves,” added Ak Yura Indera who plays central midfielder for his club.
Apart from the HBT tournament, Ak Yura Indera previously featured in the last edition of the SEA Games in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar in 2013.
