THE Ministry of Education (MoE) of Brunei Darussalam, yesterday hosted the 2nd Joint Working Group Meeting between MoE of Brunei Darussalam and MoE of Thailand at the Rizqun International Hotel, Gadong.
Brunei’s MoE delegation was led by Dr Haji Junaidi bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Permanent Secretary (Core Education) at the Ministry of Education, while the delegation of Thailand was led by Dr Suthasri Wongsamarn, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Education of Thailand.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah by Cikgu Mohd Saat bin Mokim from the Department of Schools, followed by a short speech by the leaders of both countries’ delegation prior to the discussion session.
Among the topics discussed were the current developments in education in both countries, focusing on the development of the Brunei Technical Education Institutions, as well as the collaborative efforts made in technical and vocational education that are currently being implemented.
Both parties also discussed the direction of future cooperation from both countries, including the fields of planning, research and development as well as data and information management.
Apart from that, the discussion session also focussed on opportunities such as student exchange, projects, camps, student leadership and teacher-placements at the Nakhoda Ragam Vocational School (SVNR).
Also present at the meeting were Deputy Permanent Secretary (Core Education), Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh; Acting Director General of Education, Haji Abdul Rahim bin Derus; directors, heads of department, senior officers and officers at the Ministry of Education.
The 2nd Joint Working Group Meeting ended with a souvenir presentation from Ministry of Education, Brunei, to the head of the Thai delegation.
The delegation from Ministry of Education of Thailand, which will be in the country for two days, was also taken on a working tour of SVNR to get a closer look at Brunei’s technical and vocational programmes.
