BRUNEI Darussalam’s athletic team had a fruitful outing at the 2014 Sabah Track and Field Open Championship after collecting six golds, four silvers and five bronzes.
Maziah Mahusin, Brunei’s first female Olympian, sped off with three medals from the 400m, 4x100m and 4x400m events.
In 400m, Maziah won gold medal with a time of 1.00.75.
Maziah partnering Dk Izati, Dk Umi Ramizah and Leong Shee Yee proved to be a perfect combination as they took home the 4x100m and 4x400m crowns.
Nurhidayatullah Johari came in first place in the junior 100m while Ernie threw a gold medal performance in shot putt.
Other gold medals came from men’s relay team in 4x100m.
Md Shah Johan bin Hj Shari, the manager of the Brunei team, said, “I am really satisfied with the team’s performance. They showed their best performance in the competition.”
