THE Governments of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Republic of Singapore officially kick-started the 24th technical committee meeting on ‘Cooperation In the Field of Broadcasting and Information’ yesterday at the Star Lodge Hotel, Jerudong.
The two-day event was co-officiated by Haji Mohd Rozan bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yunos, Permanent Secretary (Media and Cabinet) at the Prime Minister’s Office of Brunei Darussalam and Aubeck Kam, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Communications and Information, the Republic of Singapore.
Haji Mohd Rozan bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yunos highlighted the close ties and cooperation between Brunei and Singapore. “With the recent addition to our Memorandum of Understanding in the field of Information, this will hopefully bring discussions to another level while enhancing our cooperation towards a well-informed society and further strengthening ties and the friendship between our people.
“2015 will be the 25th year of our cooperation. Hopefully our meeting today will be another prime example of our never-ending efforts to continue this relationship by producing more exciting and informative programmes, not only to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of this cooperation, but also to satisfy the needs of our people and to experience the richness of the economic, social, cultural and tourism aspects of both countries.
“I hope there are some reviews on the current content production and activities to make it more fascinating to our viewers in the context of dynamic media trends, able to cater to a bigger and sophisticated audience for the next 25 years.”
Aubeck Kam, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Communications and Information touched upon the well-established ties between both nations in the field of broadcasting and information. The meeting will also discuss broadcasting cooperation projects between Brunei Darussalam’s Radio Televisyen Brunei, the Information Department, Singapore’s Ministry of Communications and Information, the Media Development Authority and Mediacorp.
The opening ceremony was also attended by Haji Idris bin Haji Ali, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Media and Cabinet) at the Prime Minister’s Office, senior officers from the Prime Minister’s Office, Director of Radio Televisyen Brunei and Acting Director of the Information Department.
