THE Deputy Commander of the Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF), Colonel (U) Haji Hamzah bin Sahat, yesterday launched the 20th Exercise Air Guard 2014 between the air forces of the Republic of Singapore and Brunei Darussalam, which runs from September 29 to October 14. The officiation took place at the Air Movement Centre in Rimba.
The deputy commander said that this year’s exercise is a significant milestone in military interactions between both nations as they celebrate its 20th year of cooperation.
Since its inception in 1994, the exercise has always been the highlight of bilateral cooperation between both countries and as the exercise has matured along the way, the bonds forged between both the air forces has gone a long way and has led to further interactions such as the Singapore Air Force becoming the major provider of courses for military personnel from the Sultanate.
“To mark these 20th exercises, the RBAirF will organise a Mistral live firing in Bukit Agok. In addition, a book is also planned to be released to commemorate the 20th year of Exercise Air Guard.”
The ceremony ended with Colonel (U) Haji Hamzah inspecting a guard of honour.
