THE Department of Economic Planning and Development (JPKE), Prime Minister’s Office, will be organising the ‘Brunei Salebration (BSb) 2014’ from December 19 to February 20, 2015.
The 64-day-long BSb 2014 looks to contribute towards increasing the country’s economic activities by offering attractive bargains and at the same time encourage the public to shop locally.
All BSb participants will offer discounts of at least 20 per cent, and a minimum 60 per cent of their stock on display at premises will be on offer, except for department stores, which will offer discounts by categories of products.
For more than 60 per cent stock offer, the discounts can be between 10 per cent to 20 per cent, and stores will be required to provide additional promotions such as purchase-with-purchase, free gifts, vouchers and coupons.
Under the provision of Regulation 9 (1) of the Price Control (Cheap Sale Price) Regulations 2012, the price tag must be clearly displayed on all sale items. For BSb 2014, two price tags must be displayed on all items being offered, showing the original price and the discounted price.
Each participating outlet will receive a BSb 2014 participation notice from JPKE, which must be clearly displayed at the business premises.
It is hoped the public will support the BSb, but at the same time, they are reminded to be wise and prudent with their spending by making price comparison.
The last date for businesses that still have sufficient sale quota to send their Cheap Sale Price application is November 8. Additionally, businesses are not permitted to organise any cheap sale price event 21 days before the commencement of BSb 2014.
Registration is now open to all businesses and the BSb 2014 form and participation guidelines can be downloaded through the JPKE website www.depd.gov.bn or by visiting the JPKE Office. Completed form must be returned no later than November 8, 2014.
The public is advised to contact JPKE at 2230223 (hotline) during office hours or via Facebook www.facebook.com/AduanPenggunaJPKE or e-mail at email@example.com for any complaints or concerns with regard to exploitation of BSb 2014.
To facilitate investigation, information such as shop name, type of goods, date of purchase as well as purchase receipt should be provided and all complaint forms must be signed (if refund or repaired is required).
