THE writing and publication of a book entitled ‘Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah: Leading All The Way’ is part of efforts to give a clear picture of the role and contributions of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in leading and developing Brunei Darussalam.
This was highlighted by the Minister of Education, Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, in his capacity as the Chairman of the Malay Islamic Monarchy Supreme Council (MTMIB) during the book launching ceremony at the Goldstone Ballroom of The Centrepoint Hotel in Gadong yesterday.
The Minister of Education explained that in the context of Brunei Darussalam, the monarchy institution that has been practised is unique and different from monarchy systems of other countries.
The monarchy system in the Sultanate was given legitimacy in the Brunei Darussalam Constitution 1959 and the Proclamation of Independence of Brunei Darussalam on January 1, 1984, in which the system that is based on the Islamic religion can bring goodness and prosperity.
The minister touched on the objective of maintaining the Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) for the National Vision 2035, which promotes the philosophy as the primary reference for all.
“The concept of MIB should be practised and appreciated by all citizens and residents of Brunei Darussalam in enjoying the tranquility of life, prosperity and stability in the socio-economic and political fields. MIB also acts as an anchor, so any form of development or progress achieved will be always characterised and has its identity based on the pure values of culture and religion.”
The minister added that the political system practised in the country is highly relevant and contributes to solidarity, security, happiness, stability, development and prosperity of the people.
In other words, under the leadership of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, development in various fields including Islamic religion, education, health, the economy, physical infrastructure and society has progressed.
“All of these achievements are geared towards the National Vision 2035, to enhance skills through education, improve standard of life as well as economic stability by being dynamic and competitive through the concept of MIB.”
As the book was launched in conjunction with the 31st National Day, which is based on the theme ‘Generation with Vision’, the minister advised all citizens and residents, especially the generation of today, to appreciate MIB as a complete way of life, preserve and maintain the position of the monarch in the country and the teachings of Islam.
“The writing and publication of the book is a manifestation of our thanks to the leadership of His Majesty for protecting people’s welfare and happiness in the world and the hereafter,” the minister said.
