BRUNEI Polytechnic held a Khatam Al-Quran yesterday for 177 students to mark the first convocation of Brunei Polytechnic which will be held on January 15 at the Chancellor Hall of Universiti Brunei Darussalam.
The event was held at Suri Seri Begawan Mosque, Kampong Madang/Manggis.
The guest of honour was Deputy Minister of Education, Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Yussoff bin Haji Ismail and his spouse. Also present were Acting Director of Brunei Polytechnic, Denis Ho Mun Tai and Acting Assistant Director of Brunei Polytechnic, Alias bin Haji Abu Bakar.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the guest of honour and was followed by the recitation of Khatam by the first and second student intakes of Brunei Polytechnic. The ceremony continued with the reading of Doa Takhtim and Dikir Marhaban and ended with Doa Khatam.
The Khatam Al-Quran was held to express gratitude for the success of the students of intake one and two for completing their two years of Advanced Diploma programmes.
The event also provided an opportunity for officers and staff of Brunei Polytechnic to increase their Islamic faith.
Also present were the heads of departments, heads of school, officers and staff, as well as lecturers and students of Brunei Polytechnic.
